Government Recognizes CWIN-Nepal’s Mental Health Support for Bhotekoshi Flood-Affected Communities

11th October 2026, Kathmandu.

CWIN-Nepal received a letter of appreciation from the Government of Nepal for providing mental health services to communities affected by the Bhotekoshi flash flood. The recognition was presented during a program marking World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2026.

Organized by the Non-Communicable Disease and Mental Health Section of the Department of Health Services, the program was held in the presence of the Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta. The government’s recognition acknowledges CWIN-Nepal’s efforts to address the mental health needs of people affected by the disaster.

CWIN-Nepal also used the occasion to advocate for stronger child and adolescent mental health services. The organization submitted a memorandum to the Honorable Minister, drawing attention to gaps in existing services and outlining priority areas for government action.

The occasion brought together recognition of CWIN-Nepal’s emergency response and its call for sustained attention to children’s and adolescents’ mental health. The memorandum emphasized the need to address these gaps through policies, program and services that respond to their specific needs.
