Hundreds of people joined in a solidarity walk for hope and attended a cultural programme to mark the one year of Nepal earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April, 2015. They also distributed posters with poems written by children from different earthquake hit areas which talked about hope as they walked through different alleys of Lalitpur. The walk concluded in Jawalakhel  grounds with  Kutumba band and children from CWIN Balika Peace home performing.

According to Madhav Pradhan, president of CWIN , CWIN was able to reached all 14 districts most affected by the earthquake and 200,000 children and community members received emergency support. Currently, CWIN is working in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Dhading, Sindhupalchowk, and Dolakha. CWIN envisions a just society where children are protected and enjoy their rights.

Jennifer MacCann, World Vision’s Nepal Earthquake Response (WV-NER) Director shares, “Moving forward, we strive to build Nepal back better, strengthen partnerships and drive innovation in our recovery work together with earthquake-affected people. In the past year, overcoming challenges brought by different complexities, World Vision was able to reach out to 386,984 people with relief and recovery efforts.”

After the earthquake about 9000 people lost their lives; 2.2 million people lost their homes. To remember the lives lost during and in the aftermath of the earthquake and to show solidarity, resilience and give hope to all children and communities affected by the earthquake, Central Child Welfare Board (CCWB), District Child Welfare Board (DCWB), Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC), District/City level Child Club Network,  Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) and World Vision International Nepal (WVIN) jointly organised the solidarity walk and cultural programme.
