To support the identification of mental health issues among children and adolescents undergoing treatment at the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center, an orientation program was conducted for the hospital’s nursing staff.
Organized in collaboration with Kanti Children’s Hospital and CWIN-Nepal, the orientation saw the participation of 83 nurses from Gangalal Hospital. During the session, participants were provided with knowledge on recognizing common mental health concerns in children and adolescents, as well as information on referral mechanisms for further care when needed.
Previously, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between Gangalal Hospital and Kanti Children’s Hospital, facilitated by CWIN-Nepal, committing to training nurses on identifying and responding to mental health issues in children. Following this agreement, two nurses from Gangalal Hospital have already completed a two-month practical training at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit of Kanti Children’s Hospital.
This initiative marks an important step toward integrating mental health support into the overall healthcare services provided to children and adolescents at Gangalal Hospital
