On the occasion of CWIN-Nepal’s 37th anniversary, Chandragiri Municipality was honored with the CWIN-Nepal Rastriya Bal Adhikar Samman 2024 for its significant contributions to the field of child rights. While accepting the award, Deputy Mayor Basanti Shrestha expressed her gratitude, noting that the recognition has provided renewed motivation to continue efforts in establishing and safeguarding child rights within the municipality.
Gauri Pradhan, the founding chairperson of CWIN-Nepal and a prominent human rights activist, highlighted that although the child rights movement is the youngest within the broader human rights framework, it remains the most organized and consistent movement in Nepal. He stressed that national prosperity cannot be measured solely by physical infrastructure development but must also include improvements in the status of women and children, alongside social development. He added that achieving key social development indicators is essential for realizing the vision of a Prosperous Nepal.
Ghanshyam Bishwakarma, President of the National Adolescent Network, described CWIN-Nepal as a guardian of children’s rights, acknowledging its efforts to ensure the rights of children across both accessible and remote regions of Nepal. Similarly, Kripa Kafle, President of the National Adolescent Girls Network, emphasized CWIN-Nepal’s role in uniting adolescents from all seven provinces and amplifying their voices for collective action.
