CWIN staff and volunteers left for Taplejung today to distribute relief materials and provide Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) to survivors of flood and landslide of six VDCs (Thinglabu, Khamlung, Lingtep, Liwang, Sangthapre and Khokling) of Taplejung District.
CWIN has coordinated the relief on behalf of Nepal Disaster Volunteer Coordination Network and Taplejung Concern Centre. The mission is jointly supported by FORUT/PBV/CWS/ and CINI. The relief materials include tarpaulins, mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, cups, plates, food items, medicines and sanitary pads for 141 households of six affected VDCs for about 500 people. CWIN- staff and volunteers will also provide PFA in these six VDC of Taplejung. The team will be in the field for 12 days.
Taplejung was badly hit by floods and landslides on 10 June 2015, resulting in more than 53 deaths and displacement of hundreds of families. The team received training on disaster volunteer coordination and Psychosocial First Aid before leaving for the field.
