The coordination and collaboration among Nepal Police and the organisations working for street children should be improved in order to tackle with growing challenges regarding the protection and social reintegration of street children, child rights activists and police personnel said.

In an interaction programme on ‘Roles of Nepal Police and NGOs Working with Street Children on Protection Part”, Kiran Pradhan, Inspector of Department of Women, Children Service Centre directive- Kathmandu said, “Organisations should build a good rapport with police office circles and should update about their organisational services, activities and working modality focused on street children to their concerned police circles”.

The interaction programme was organised by Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) in collaboration with Nepal Police and frontline field workers working with street children from different organisations working for street children on June 2, 2014, in the capital.  38 police representatives had participated in the programme.

During the programme, the police personnel voiced their commitment in creating a working environment conducive to improving the status of the street children in which the Government’s security personnel-Nepal Police, concerned organizations, field workers working directly can work collaboratively.
