Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) celebrated its 27th-anniversary organising different programmes on 16 November 2014 in Hetauda district with a slogan-‘Formation of New Constitution with Full Respect of Child Rights’.

In a formal event to mark the celebration, Sumnima Tuladhar, Executive Coordinator of CWIN said that child rights issues were raised in the country right after the establishment of this organisation in 1987.   In the beginning, people were unaware of the fact that children also have their rights. However, at present, they are much aware of the issue and are more concerned about their children.

Tuladhar also stressed on necessity for every stakeholder to be positive towards ensuring child rights and work collectively.

Meanwhile, Shankar Koirala, Regional Administrator of the Mid-Western Development Region stated that the state should allocate a huge budget for the protection of child rights and the creation of the bright future of the children.

During the programme, CWIN felicitated its staffs who have completed a decade long journey with it and other supporting organisations and networks. It also launched its official music video titled-‘Gham’ featuring Astha Tamang Maskey, a new singing talent. It was then followed by dance and drama performances by the children from Hetauda and CWIN Balika Peace Home, a transit home for rescued girls.

Child Helpline-Hetauda also organised a blood donation programme to mark the occasion. It collected about 40 pints of blood. The collected blood will be used for treating children at risks in the district.

Since its establishment in 1987 to till now, CWIN has rescued 18 thousand children, provided education support to 59,473 inside the country and, formed about 18 thousand child clubs and adolescent girls’ group. Furthermore, it has been also working for the rescuing and protecting children from labour exploitation, harassment, sexual abuse, crime, trafficking and physical abuses.
