A “Mental Health Project” aimed at promoting the mental wellbeing of children and adolescents has been successfully concluded in Sindhuli. The project closing event was held in Marin Rural Municipality.
Speaking at the event, Bimarsha Muktan, the chairperson of the rural municipality expressed happiness that the project had contributed significantly at a time when very limited work had been carried out on child and adolescent mental health in the municipality. He shared that the project helped promote awareness, dialogue, and support systems related to mental health at the community level, adding that it had also contributed positively to the overall development of the municipality.

The program was attended by Bimala Majhi, elected representatives, municipal staff, local child club representatives, and other stakeholders.
The project was implemented with the objective of empowering children and adolescents with knowledge and skills to manage their mental health and ensuring access to support systems when needed. As part of the initiative, orientation sessions were conducted for school teachers, school nurses, parents, and local representatives on child and adolescent mental health conditions and available services.
In addition, mental health screening of 150 students from schools in Marin was conducted under the project.
The project was implemented in Marin Rural Municipality, Kamalamai Municipality, and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhuli with support from Plan International and coordination from the respective local municipalities.
