Building Empathy and Resiliency: A 3-Day Training for Frontline Child Protection Responders Marking World Mental Health Day 2025

10th October 2025

CWIN-Nepal successfully conducted a transformative 3-day training program focused on “Building Empathy and Resiliency” for frontline service providers working with children and adolescents. The training brought together 16 dedicated participants from key child protection organizations: CWIN-Nepal, Maiti Nepal, Change Action Nepal, Bal Helpline, and Social Workers – Mental Health Lagankhel.

Designed in alignment with World Mental Health Day, the training aimed to enhance the emotional strength and empathetic capacities of frontline responders — enabling them to care for vulnerable children more effectively while also strengthening their own resilience and mental well-being.

The training focused on several key areas essential for enhancing the effectiveness and well-being of child protection service providers. These included communication skills development, risk minimization strategies, self-care and stress management, anger management, and identifying and measuring emotions and feelings. Additionally, the sessions emphasized the importance of building empathy and emotional intelligence, along with strengthening both personal and professional resilience. This initiative also served as a pilot testing of a newly developed training module tailored specifically for those working in child protection. By fostering a safe and reflective learning environment, the training equipped participants with practical tools to build their own resilience while empowering them to better support the emotional well-being of the children and communities they serve. Empathy and resilience were highlighted not only as essential tools for supporting others but also as vital for sustaining the mental health of frontline caregivers themselves.
