Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) signed a partnership agreement with Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) for creating the capital city as a child-friendly city and to protect children at risk for ensuring child rights on 8th December 2014.

According to Bharat Adhikari, Project Manager at CWIN, both parties signed the two-year-long agreement with an objective to minimise child labour at hotels, dance restaurants, embroidery and carpet factories, metal industries, vehicles, garages, shops and other labour sectors inside the metropolitan city.  Rescuing children at risk, protecting and rehabilitating them and ensuring child rights in the city are the other purposes of the agreement. They will coordinate with other stakeholders and organisations also to perform different activities to meet these objectives.

Meanwhile, on the same day, CWIN and Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City signed a one-year-long partnership agreement to minimise child labour and to protect and promote child rights in the city.
