Vacancy Announcement: Psychiatrist at Kanti Children’s Hospital


CWIN-Nepal, in collaboration with UNICEF is seeking application from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Psychiatrist at Kanti Children’s Hospital Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit under the project “Strengthening Health System for Child and Adolescent Mental Health”.

Position: Psychiatrist (1 Position)

  • Duty Station: Kanti Children’s Hospital, CAMH Unit
  • Application Deadline: 27 August 2025

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical mental health services in Out-patient unit and In-patient unit of Child & Adolescent Mental Health Unit of Kanti Children’s Hospital.
  • Utilize telemedicine tools (e.g., video consultations, standardized questionnaires) to evaluate the mental health status of children and adolescents and provide quality care services.
  • Conduct comprehensive and compassionate telehealth consultations, ensuring that remote sessions are efficient, secure, and effective in delivering psychiatric care.
  • Ensure all telemedicine interactions are appropriately documented, adhering to legal, ethical, and institutional standards for remote healthcare.
  • Work closely with other mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, and pediatricians, to provide integrated care for children and adolescents.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care, making referrals to other services (e.g., speech therapy, occupational therapy) when needed.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation and quality improvement initiatives to enhance telemedicine services, ensuring they meet national standards for child and adolescent mental health care.
  • Serve as a member of mental health Rapid Response team to take quick actions in case of mental health emergencies affecting children and adolescents.
  • Participate as a trainer in training, capacity building and supervision of primary care providers on child mental health.
  • Support in preparation of progress report of implementation of the project both in clinical services and in outreach service.
  • Should abide CWIN Internal Management Regulations (IMR), Child Protection and Safeguarding policy, Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Policy, Gender and Social Inclusion policy and Sexual Harassment at Work Place policy.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • MD Psychiatry
  • Registration with the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) mandatory
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
