CWIN Nepal is seeking qualified and committed candidates for the position of Counsellor to provide counselling and psychosocial support to children and families affected by the flood in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

The Counsellor will work closely with Child Helpline Nepal 1098, local governments, Social Mobilizers, case management staff, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and other child protection and mental health service providers.

The position will focus particularly on separated, unaccompanied, and other vulnerable children affected by the flood.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Child Helpline Nepal 1098 and local governments to identify, refer, and support children requiring counselling and psychosocial services.
• Provide individual and group counselling to flood-affected children.
• Provide psychosocial support to separated, unaccompanied, and other vulnerable children.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and identify children requiring specialized mental health support.
• Develop counselling and psychosocial support plans based on individual needs.
• Provide psychological first aid and emotional support to children and families affected by emergencies.
• Conduct regular follow-up with children receiving counselling and psychosocial services.
• Work closely with Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists for technical guidance, consultation, referrals, and management of children requiring specialized mental health care.
• Coordinate closely with Social Mobilizers and case management staff.
• Support case management where counselling or psychosocial intervention is required.
• Refer children requiring specialized psychological, psychiatric, medical, legal, or protection services.
• Support parents and caregivers in responding to children’s emotional and psychosocial needs.
• Conduct group counselling, recreational activities, and child-friendly psychosocial support activities.
• Coordinate with local governments, schools, health facilities, child protection mechanisms, and other service providers.
• Maintain confidential counselling records and case documentation.
• Ensure informed consent, confidentiality, child safeguarding, and the best interests of children.
• Prepare regular counselling, psychosocial support, case follow-up, and activity reports.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the project team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completed at least Plus Two (+2) in any discipline and hold a certificate in at least six months of counselling or psychosocial training from a recognized institution.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience in emergency or humanitarian settings.
• Basic computer skills, relevant technical capacity, and the ability to prepare and submit reports.
• Strong coordination and linkage-building skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and establish linkages with stakeholders, organizations, and team members.
• Knowledge of counselling, psychosocial support, mental health, and child protection is required.
• Understanding of children’s psychosocial needs in emergency situations is preferred.
• Good counselling, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with children and families.
• Ability and willingness to work in flood-affected and remote communities.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Strong commitment to child rights, safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion.

Preferred Experience

Contract Period

The initial contract will be for five months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements, funding availability, and performance.

2. Position: Social Mobilizer

CWIN Nepal is seeking qualified and committed candidates for the position of Social Mobilizer to support child protection and case management services in flood-affected communities of Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

The Social Mobilizer will work closely with Child Helpline Nepal 1098, local governments, children, families, communities, and other child protection service providers. The position will mainly focus on separated, unaccompanied, and other vulnerable children affected by the flood.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Child Helpline Nepal 1098 and local governments to identify and support vulnerable children.
• Identify separated, unaccompanied, and vulnerable children in flood-affected communities.
• Conduct child protection assessments and support individual case management.
• Develop and follow individual case plans based on each child’s needs.
• Conduct regular follow-up visits with children, families, and caregivers.
• Support family tracing, reunification, and reintegration when appropriate.
• Refer children and families to appropriate protection, health, education, psychosocial, legal, and other services.
• Coordinate with local governments, schools, health facilities, police, and other service providers.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case records and documentation.
• Support community-based child protection and awareness activities.
• Identify protection concerns and report urgent cases through appropriate safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure children’s dignity, safety, confidentiality, and best interests throughout case management.
• Prepare regular field updates, case reports, and activity reports and update the case information into CPIMS.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the project team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have successfully completed at least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from a recognized institution.
• Knowledge of child protection and social work principles is required.
• Understanding of case management for vulnerable children is preferred.
• Good communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work directly with children, families, and communities.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly within flood-affected and remote communities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive child protection information.
• Strong commitment to child rights, safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion.
