Over 250 Children Receive Mental Health Support Through CAMH Camps in Sindhupalchok

2 June 2026, Sindhupalchok.
A total of 255 school-going children and adolescents from remote communities of Sindhupalchok received mental health and psychosocial support through Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Camps organized by CWIN-Nepal in coordination with Helambu and Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipalities.

The two-day camps were conducted on June 1 and 2 at Shree Helambu Bodhisattva Secondary School and Shree Bhotenamlang Secondary School to identify mental health concerns among adolescents and provide early intervention and referral services.

Among the 255 participating students from Grades 7 to 10, 120 received clinical assessment and intervention services, while 50 children were identified for continued follow-up support. In addition, 17 students were referred to the school health nurse for counselling and further assistance.

Assessments identified anxiety-related concerns as the most common mental health issue among adolescents. Emerging concerns related to alcohol and hookah use were also observed, underscoring the need for greater awareness and preventive interventions in schools and communities.

The program was coordinated by Sajal Munankarmi, Project Coordinator of CWIN-Nepal, with support from local social mobilizers. Awareness sessions on Good Touch and Bad Touch were also conducted to promote child protection and personal safety.

To ensure continued care, CWIN-Nepal will facilitate follow-up counselling through tele-video consultation services in coordination with nearby health facilities. The initiative forms part of CWIN-Nepal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen child and adolescent mental health services and create safer, more supportive environments for children across Nepal.
