The Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality, Mr. Ghanshyam Giri, has expressed his commitment to incorporate issues related to children’s sexual and reproductive health rights in the municipality’s upcoming policies and programs.
During an interaction with
CWIN Nepal, Mayor Giri also emphasized the municipality’s commitment to collaborate with civil society organizations in promoting child rights and providing sexual and reproductive health education. Deputy Mayor Basanti Shrestha highlighted that the municipality has been working in coordination with civil society to address development needs and tackle social issues and challenges.
CWIN-Nepal has been implementing the SUFASEC Project in Chandragiri Municipality to raise awareness and inform children about their sexual and reproductive health rights. Under the project, CWIN-Nepal has trained 20 adolescents from Chandragiri, Siddharthanagar, Tilottama, and Nepalgunj as peer educators, who are currently supporting knowledge transfer in various schools.
The interaction was organized in collaboration with CWIN-Nepal to discuss future programs and plans under the SUFASEC project. The program was also attended by elected representatives, and municipal officials of the municipality.
